Honda Korea officially launches the 'New Pilot', an all-around large SUV, crossing daily life and the outdoors
  • Upgraded Honda Sensing® and reinforced collision safety to secure the best-in-class level of safety
  • Advanced convenience features for easy use by passengers even in 2nd and 3rd rows, with exceptional spatial utility
  • 9-speed automatic transmission to enhance driving feel
The New Honda Pilot, the "All-Around & Up-Scaled SUV" for "Good Daddy" seeking a pleasant lifestyle with their loving families, is set for official launch in Korea ahead of the New Year.

Honda Korea (www.hondakorea.co.kr; CEO: Chung Woo-young) announced on the 13th that it will launch the New Pilot, an all-around large SUV crossing daily life and the outdoors, with the solid fundamentals of the previous models of Pilot, a best-in-class level of safety, convenience features, pleasant spacing comfortably enjoyed even by the passengers, and outstanding driving performance.

Regarded as the "eldest brother" of Honda's SUV lineup, Pilot is a large SUV developed to provide a more comfortable and safer driving experience for the whole family, not only for daily living but also for outdoor lifestyles. A best-selling model in North America where more than 100,000 vehicles are sold annually, Pilot particularly possesses a best-in-class level of safety, convenience specifications, loading space for passengers, highly advanced functionality, and an exceptional driving feel.

Best-in-class safety level and dominant driving performance!
The New Pilot employs Honda Sensing®, with an added posterolateral alert system known as Blind Spot Information (BSI) System and a Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM). The most enhanced safety system for preventing accidents in advance or initiating evasion, Honda Sensing® has reinforced driving safety for drivers by installing the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Brake System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Blind Spot Information System (BSI), and Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) features.

In addition, collision safety and driving safety have been further reinforced with the application of a next-generation ACE (Advanced Compatibility Engineering™) Body. As a result, it was not only selected as the "Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+)" in 2018 by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for vehicle safety performance superior to all other SUVs of the same class, but was also able to secure the greatest level of safety among its peers in the small overlap test, which has the most severe collision test conditions.

Equipped with a V6 3.5L direct injection i-VTEC engine, the New Pilot displays dominating driving performance with powerful force achieved by a maximum output of 284 horsepower and maximum torque of 36.2 kg/m. It also has newly employed the 9-speed automatic transmission to achieve best-in-class combined fuel efficiency (8.4 km/L: 7.4 km/L in the city, 10.0 km/L on the highway) among similar SUVs.

Advanced convenience features, easily used by passengers even in the 2nd and 3rd rows, and best-in-class packaging technology
The Pilot Elite model is equipped with a glass roof that improves the open feel of the interior, front seat ventilation system, and 2nd-row captain's chairs, offering a pleasant environment for all passengers. Pilot Elite also features a Rear Entertainment System (RES), consisting of a 10.2-inch display on the 2nd-row ceiling, an exclusive remote control, HDMI terminal, wireless headphones, etc. to enable the passengers to enjoy Blu-Ray, DVD, or a variety of multimedia connected from external devices. The Cabin Talk™ feature has also been installed for the first time in a Pilot model, assisting pleasant communication within the car by smoothly delivering the voices of 1st-row passengers to those in the 2nd and 3rd rows.

Moreover, Pilot's own packaging technology also stands out, offering outstanding visibility and accessibility and completing an efficient space. Using the walk-in switch, the 2nd row seats can be folded in a simple manner, which subsequently improves convenience in getting on and off from the 3rd row. Capable of 6:4 split folding, the 3rd-row seats may be adjusted depending on different situations and purposes to allow large luggage to be loaded with ease.

Dynamic styling with a reinforced image of an authentic large SUV
The New Pilot has strengthened its image one step further as an authentic large SUV. By harmonizing powerful character lines with a sporty design and newly selecting 20-inch wheels in two shades of black, the grandiosity of a large SUV is now complete.

Its radiator grill has applied the "Honda Flying Wing" design, which symbolizes Honda's identity, to express a future-oriented and sophisticated look. The modern, classy luxuriousness is also emphasized from the inline-type Full LED headlights and LED rear combination lights, while an active style is achieved through dynamically designed skid plates and front and side garnishes with a chrome accent.

The New Pilot will be launched with two trims, for the 8-passenger "Pilot" model and a 7-passenger "Pilot Elite" model, and is available in five exterior color options including the existing White Diamond, Modern Steel, Lunar Silver, and Crystal Black as well as the newly added Steel Sapphire. The sale price for "Pilot" is KRW 54,900,000 (including VAT), and KRW 59,500,000 (including VAT) for "Pilot Elite".

Honda Korea CEO Mr. Chung Woo-young stated, "The New Pilot will be the best choice for "good daddy" seeking Around & Up-Scaled SUV" and a pleasant lifestyle with their families. With its differentiated strengths, the Pilot is expected to be the new powerhouse in the increasingly popular large SUV market."

Meanwhile, Honda Korea will host a launch event in celebration of the New Pilot's release, through which a variety of benefits will be presented to customers who sign up to purchase the car in December. The benefits include an "extension of the Honda Green+ Warranty (free warranty up to 5 years or 100,000 km, 2 additional free engine oil exchanges)", worth about KRW 1,200,000, and restaurant coupons worth KRW 200,000 will be offered for customers with 3 or more children among those who sign up to purchase the New Pilot this month. For families that have had another Honda vehicle before signing up for the New Pilot, fuel expenses of KRW 500,000 will be offered as an additional benefit.
