Bangkok – Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced that Honda received ten distinguished safety-related awards at the ASEAN NCAP (ASEAN New Car Assessment Program) Grand Prix Awards 2016, held at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The awards Honda received are the “Best Medium Family Car” in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) for Honda Civic; “Safety Technology Award” (Car Maker Category) for Honda SENSING, an advanced driver-assistive system developed by Honda; and the “Most Affordable 5-Star Car” award for seven countries in Southeast Asia (ASEAN). With a remarkable ten awards, Honda was the most-awarded manufacturer at the event. This outstanding achievement symbolizes another step forward for Honda to realize a collision-free society for everyone sharing the road.
The 10th generation Honda Civic, which has been awarded a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP safety rating*, was selected as the safest car in the medium family car category for both the AOP and COP. The model was launched in eight ASEAN countries and has recorded over 30,000 units sold across the region.
In the “Safety Technology” car maker category, Honda SENSING was awarded as the technology that best contributes to safety for the year. Honda SENSING is a system consisting of two types of sensors with different characteristics. One is a millimeter-wave radar and the other is a monocular camera mounted on the upper, inside part of the windshield. The system recognizes not only its surroundings but also the intentions of the driver and conditions of the vehicle. It then applies collaborative control over certain components of the vehicle including the braking system and steering wheel to avoid or reduce the impact of a collision.

• Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
• Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
• Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow
